Andersen Window Installation: The Homestead Owner’s Guide

Andersen window installation in Homestead typically runs $85 to $240 per window for labor when we’re replacing failed components like balances, rollers, or weatherstripping, and $350 to $900 installed when the sash itself needs replacing. We keep the most common Andersen-compatible parts on our trucks, so a single visit usually handles it. Most folks discover a problem the way you’d expect in South Florida: a window that suddenly won’t stay up after years of salt air and humidity doing their quiet work, or a crank that spins without moving anything.

Call (448) 428-7290

What matters most to us is matching the part to the frame, not just the brand name. Andersen has made windows across multiple lines and decades, and the parts are not interchangeable the way some folks assume. That’s where we’ll start.

Which Andersen Models This Applies To

We work on the Andersen lines most common in Homestead homes: the 200 Series, 400 Series (including Frenchwood and Tilt-Wash), and older Narroline windows still hanging on in houses built through the 1980s and 1990s. The A-Series and E-Series show up in newer construction and custom work, and territory-wise we’re comfortable there too. Each line has its own hardware spec, and here’s the gotcha most homeowners run into: a balance from a 200 Series does not fit a 400 Series, even when the visible sash dimensions are identical. Andersen stamps model numbers on the corner of the sash frame and sometimes on the glass etching in the lower corner. If you can read that number to us over the phone, we’ll bring the right part on the first trip.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Andersen’s factory parts carry the manufacturer warranty and a known material spec, and we quote them line by line. For certain components, like coil balance assemblies, we also carry high-quality aftermarket equivalents that match the load rating and cost 30 to 40 percent less. We’ll show both prices on paper before any work starts. That’s a square deal, and it’s how Dale Kessler has always quoted a job.

TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Andersen Corporation. We do, however, install and service Andersen products every week, and we also stock parts for Pella, and PGT where a warranty exchange or retrofit makes sense.

Signs Your Andersen Window Installation Is Failing

  • The window is hard to raise or drops when you let go. In Andersen double-hungs, this almost always means the balance tubes have lost tension or the block-and-tackle assembly has worn out. Florida humidity accelerates the internal wear on the nylon components.
  • The crank turns but the sash barely moves. On Andersen casements, the operator mechanism has a gear that strips over time, especially on windows that get daily use. The operator needs replacement, not lubrication.
  • You see daylight or feel a draft along the edge of a closed sash. Weatherstripping on Andersen compression weatherstripping channels degrades under Homestead sun exposure. The vinyl turns brittle and loses its seal.
  • Condensation between the panes. The insulating glass unit has lost its seal. That’s a sash replacement or an IGU swap, not something a cleaner or a defogging service will permanently fix.
  • The lock or keeper is loose and the window won’t seat tightly. Frame settling and years of use wallow out the screw holes. We re-drill, install longer fasteners, and reset the keeper so the sash locks positive against the weatherstripping.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what Andersen window installation parts and labor actually cost in Homestead right now.

Job Typical Installed Price Range
Balance replacement (double-hung, per window) $85 - $170
Crank operator replacement (casement) $120 - $220
Weatherstripping replacement (per sash) $75 - $150
Sash replacement (standard 400 Series) $350 - $650
Full IGU replacement (per sash) $400 - $900

The range comes down to series, sash size, and whether the frame itself is still square and sound. Every quote includes the part, the labor, cleanup, and our Done Right Promise in writing. Both manufacturer warranty layers get registered before our truck leaves your driveway. No change orders, no surprise line items.

DIY or Call Us?

There are things you can safely check: read the model number off the sash corner, note whether the problem is on one window or several, and check if the frame itself feels solid. We’ll take that information over the phone and give you a straight price before we schedule anything.

What we’d caution against is pulling the sash out yourself. Andersen double-hungs have tilt mechanisms that can pinch fingers, and the balance tubes hold real tension. We’ve come behind more than one homeowner who ended up with a sprung balance and a sash wedged halfway out of the frame. That repair costs more than the original job would have. Safety first on anything with spring tension, and window hardware is no exception. If you’re in Homestead and the window is fighting you, call (448) 428-7290. We’ll be there when we say.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★

"Sliding door had been dragging for years. They quoted a repair first, said the track was shot, then priced the replacement both ways on paper. No pressure either direction. Door glides with one finger now."

CCarol M.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★

"Storm door and a new back entry door. Small job, but they treated it like one that mattered. Screws in the hinges are stainless, the sweep actually seals, and the invoice matched the phone quote to the dollar."

VVernon H.
★★★★

"Had fog between the panes in four windows. They explained the seals had failed and argon was long gone, replaced the glass units instead of selling me whole windows. Honest outfit."
